On July
11, 2001, Craig Marcott, the owner of the Romantic Dancing site at www.romanticdancing.com
shut down his site due to inadequate book sales. Working with Craig on the site
has been a most enjoyable experience in all regards. We are sad to see his site
close down.
Since
the site has been very popular with those who have seen it, we approached Craig
about still displaying it on Mammoth Sites as a demonstration site. We are grateful
to him for permission to continue to make the site available to people.
When
the site was in full operation, it was a rare combination of art and engineering,
providing:
- online
sales of books
- dynamic
submission of dancing stories and views
- visitors
could submit dancing stories or views on questions to Craig
- Craig
would review these items in a special password-protected administrative
area of the site. He could edit them, add comments to them, and then post
them to an area of the site only he could see. When he was happy with
them, he could post them back to the public section of the site for site
visitors to enjoy, all without knowing HTML
Everything
in the demonstration site is operational, as it was before with two exceptions:
- You
can't post stories and views on questions to the site, or do anything involving
a database, because the site no longer references Craig's database. This means
pages like dancing Stories, views on Dancing, and order the
Book and their subordinate pages no longer operate on a database as they
used to.
- You
can't order books over the internet, that is, the ecommerce for the site is
no longer in operation.
Note:
Any text added to the demonstration site appears in gray
to differentiate it from the original site.
