"Life
may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we
should dance." That's
the author's motto, and he's sticking to it. Craig Marcott
discovered the magic of social dancing in 1992 when he became
a member of Swing Dance Long Island, a local swing dance club.
He quickly rose to president, organizing weekly dances and
dance workshops. As a result, Craig has had an opportunity
to better understand both the obstacles and benefits to learning
to social dance. His contact with other dance professionals,
as well as his weekly interaction with club members allows
him to speak with the voice of experience about finding the
best dance clubs, taking lessons and even buying the right
clothes.
Craig
has personally studied under professional dance instructors
Margaret Batiuchok, a former Harvest Moon Ball champion, and
Paul Grecki, the 1995 American Swing Dance Lindy Hop champion.
This has helped him understand the importance of learning
the fundamentals that allowed him to better experience the
social benefits of partner dancing.
As a
result of all these activities, Craig has enjoyed a richer
social and romantic life. He is dedicated to spreading the
word about the many benefits of partner dancing, from increased
physical fitness to greater popularity and potential romance.
